The alert doesn’t make a sound (iPhone).

Check that the Ring/Silent switch (or Action button) is not set to silent, and that a Focus such as Sleep or Do Not Disturb is not on (you can allow Oriruyo in a Focus). In the Settings app → Notifications → Oriruyo, turn on Sounds and Time Sensitive Notifications. You can try it any time in the app: 設定 (Settings) → 通知のテスト (notification test).

The alert doesn’t make a sound (Android).

The Android version is in the works. Once it is out, check that the phone is not on silent or vibrate, that Do Not Disturb is off, that sound and vibration are on in the Settings app → Notifications → Oriruyo → the “降車のお知らせ” (arrival alerts) channel, and that the alarm volume is not turned down.

The notification came late, or not at all.

Underground lines and tunnels, battery saving, location permissions and the OS’s background limits can delay or block notifications. Try a longer alert distance, add a backup timer (“minutes to go”) for underground sections, and keep the app running while the alarm is on. For trips that matter, please set another alarm as well.

The app says “見守りが止まっています” (monitoring has stopped).

This appears when the app finds that location monitoring is no longer running, for example after you closed the app by swiping it away, restarted your phone or changed the location permission. Tap “見守りを再開する” (resume monitoring) on the monitoring screen. If it can’t resume, check the location permission and that Location Services are on. To make this less likely, don’t close the app while an alarm is on. On iPhone, setting location to “Always” adds a backup for when the app is closed; this is optional.

Do I need to keep the app open?

No. Monitoring continues with the screen off or while you use other apps. Closing the app by swiping it away, or restarting your phone, can stop it.

Do I need to allow location “Always”?

No. Oriruyo works with “While Using the App”. “Always” is optional: it adds a backup for when the app has been closed, and it is needed for the Premium option that starts an alarm automatically when you arrive at your boarding station.

How do I restore my purchase?

In the app, open 設定 (Settings) or the プレミアム (Premium) screen and tap “購入を復元” (restore purchase), signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. There is no account. Moving a purchase between the App Store and Google Play is not supported.

Will my saved stations move to a new phone?

No. Saved stations stay on your device and are left out of iCloud and Google backups, so please save them again on your new phone. Premium comes back with “購入を復元” (restore purchase).

I can’t find my station.

Type the station name as it is written (kanji or katakana). Searching by reading in hiragana is not supported yet. Stations with the same name are told apart by their line.
