Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Oriruyo Operator (“we” or “us”) handles information in the app “Oriruyo” (おりるよ, the “App”) and on this website.
1. Our approach
- There is no account. The App does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your location coordinates are never saved or sent anywhere. The App does not keep a record of where you have been.
- The App contains no ads, analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not use advertising identifiers (such as IDFA).
- The App does not send any information to a server of ours. We never receive your stations or your location.
2. Location
- What it is for: while an alarm is on, the App checks the straight-line distance to your station, even with the screen off, so it can notify you when you get close.
- Your location coordinates are used only to work out that distance, and are thrown away in your device’s memory. They are never stored on your device or sent anywhere.
- Location is used only while an alarm is on. When the alarm ends, the App stops getting your location.
- However, if you use the Premium option “start automatically when I arrive at my boarding station”, the OS watches whether you enter the area around your boarding station even when no alarm is on (a geofence). When you do, on the days and times you chose, the App starts an alarm. Your coordinates are still not stored or sent. Deleting or turning off the schedule stops this.
- The App works with “While Using the App”. “Always” is optional and is used as a backup for when the App has been closed (the OS tells the App when you enter the area around your station) and for the automatic start above.
- Without location permission, you can still use the backup timer (“minutes to go”) on its own.
3. Information kept on your device
The App keeps the following only on your device, in the App’s storage.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Saved stations (your favorite stations, and settings for each station such as the alert distance) | Until you delete them |
| Recent stations | Up to 5. You can turn recording off and delete them all in Settings |
| Alarm records (the station, alert distance, start time, whether you were notified, etc.) | Deleted automatically 7 days after the alarm ends |
| Automatic start schedules (destination station, boarding station, days, times, alert distance, etc.) and a mark for whether one already started today | Until you delete them |
| The time your location was last found and the estimated distance to your station, shown on the monitoring screen (no coordinates) | Overwritten with each new reading and deleted when the alarm ends |
| Settings (default alert distance, reminders, time limit, etc.) | Until you delete the App |
- This information is left out of device backups (iCloud and Google backups). Because of this, saved stations do not move to a new phone; please save them again there.
- A Premium purchase can be brought back on a new phone with “Restore purchase” (see “4. Purchases” below).
4. Purchases
- Purchases of and payments for Premium (a one-time purchase) are handled by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). We never receive your payment method or card details.
- To check the status of your purchase, RevenueCat, Inc. and the App Store or Google Play process the information needed for the purchase (purchase records, product, purchase date, a random user ID created by the App, etc.).
- Your location and station names are never sent to RevenueCat, Apple or Google.
- Information handled by RevenueCat and the stores is handled under their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Why we use it
- To notify you when you get close to your station
- To remember your favorite stations, recent stations and per-station settings for next time
- To check and show the state of monitoring (for example, whether it has stopped)
- To check whether you can use Premium, and to restore your purchase
6. Information this website handles
- This website is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. For delivery and security, Cloudflare may process access logs (IP address, browser type, time of access, etc.).
- This website does not use cookies, analytics or ads. Fonts are served from this website, without contacting other services.
7. Information you send us
If you contact us by email, we use your email address and message only to reply and respond to you. Please do not send us your location.
8. Sharing with third parties
Except for RevenueCat, Inc., Apple and Google for purchases, and Cloudflare for delivering this website, as described above, or as required by law, we do not provide your information to third parties.
9. International transfers
RevenueCat and Cloudflare are US companies, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries.
10. How to delete it
- Saved stations: delete them from the station’s menu on the App’s home screen.
- Automatic start schedules: open the schedule in the App’s 設定 (Settings) → 曜日ごとの開始設定 and delete it.
- Recent stations: in the App, open Settings and delete them all. Turn off recording to stop keeping them.
- Alarm records: deleted automatically 7 days after the alarm ends.
- Everything: deleting the App removes all of this information from your device.
- We have no server that holds your information, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side. Purchase records are handled under the terms of RevenueCat and the stores.
- Emails you send us: We delete them once they are no longer needed after we have responded.
- You can ask us to disclose, correct, delete or stop using information about you that we hold. Please contact us (see “Contact” below).
11. Children
The App does not knowingly collect information from children.
12. Station data
The station data in the App is based on “National Land Numerical Information (Railway Data)” (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan) (https://nlftp.mlit.go.jp/ksj/gml/datalist/KsjTmplt-N02-2024.html), processed by us (stations on each line merged and their positions averaged). License: CC BY 4.0. The station data is built into the App, so searching for a station does not contact any outside service.
13. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy when necessary. Changes take effect when posted on this page. We will announce important changes in the App or on this website.
